Hungry? Hate the Govenment? Great!

The Anarchist Cookbook

Well, I have found the cookbook for you! I stumbled upon this earlier today:

The Anarchist Cookbook, first published in 1971, is a book that contains recipes and instructions for the manufacture of explosives, rudimentary telecommunications phreaking devices and other dangerous and illegal items, some with merit and some dangerous if even attempted. It was written by William Powell to protest the United States government’s involvement in the Vietnam War.”

Author William Powell
Country United States
Language English
Genre(s) Instructional
Publisher Lyle Stuart
Publication date 1971

Apparently, this is the title of a movie as well (The Anarchist Cookbook), but I think the fact an actual cookbook geared towards anarchists is far more intriguing.

Since it’s release, he author has actually converted to Christianity and tried to have the book removed from circulation (2000). He claims the book “…in many respects, was a misguided product of my adolescent anger at the prospect of being drafted and sent to Vietnam to fight in a war that I did not believe in.”

I am very opinionated about people who change their views drastically and then try to make excuses for things they’ve written, said, or done. A great example of this is the Ataris’ front-man, Kris Roe.

Kris Roe

Any Ataris fan can tell you they’re “sound” has changed a lot over the years. When they first came out in the late 1990′s, they were a more fast-paced, under a minute songs, kind of band. Typical pop-punk band of their time, you could say. Then, each album became progressively more pop-punk, rather than fast-paced, hard punk. I mean, this is fine, music progresses and changes and that doesn’t mean someone is fake or anything, but when a band becomes “ashamed” of who they were, I think that is a cop out. Kris has said that he wasn’t playing the music he wanted to and the new album (this was referring to Welcome The Night) was a darker, more real side of him.

Look, Kris- people change and that’s okay. The CD was after your divorce and many of the band members had left so, it’s okay that you were in a darker place, but there’s no need to be embarassed or deny who you were at one point. I think people should be okay with changing, staying the same, or whatever! Just because you’re different than you once were, doesn’t mean that the old you was horrible, people just mature, develop, blah blah, as time goes on.

Alright well, I strayed far off my original point, but it’s still relative. I love when people are passionate about their views, whatever they may be. William Powell was an anarchist at one point, and I think that’s awesome. People that have controversial views are often scared to express themselves in fear of being rejected by the majority. WHO CARES? Ha ha, I mean come on, I think Obama is a load of crap, and I’ll tell that to anyone, despite the fact that like, 90% of people will ask me why and be confused. The few of us that can fight what the mainstream media wants us to think- are great. Think whatever you want, but the terms this country were founded on are why we are as free as we are today. Blah, that was really wordy. You know what I mean. Many people come down on others for thinking differently, but I applaud them. I have tons of friends that have opposite political and world views as me, but I don’t care. They just won’t be my VP pick when I’m running for President one day. HA! Guess I should start my community organizing now and I’ll be a shoe-in!
