Report: ‘City’ star Whitney Port

hardly works for

Diane von Furstenberg

By John Bracchitta, 12/29/2008

You may be able to take Whitney Port out of The Hills, but apparently you can’t take The Hills’ fakery out of MTV’s new The City spinoff.

The City, which features the former The Hills star moving from California to New York City as she tries to make a name for herself in the fashion business, is coming under similar fire as the show it was spun-off from for reportedly staging and re-shooting scenes, the New York Post reported Monday.

One of the aspects that the show is reportedly over-embellishing is Port’s job at Diane von Furstenburg’s fashion design company — which is allegedly the entire reason that Port relocated to New York.

“She doesn’t really work. She is hardly ever in the office,”  a source told the Post of Port and her position at the fashion company.

The source also added that some of von Furstenburg’s other employees haven’t been able to do part of their work because of the new MTV show’s requirements that the staffers keep the office looking the same for continuity’s sake during re-shoots.

“[Other employees] can’t get their work done because MTV tells them they can’t move any thing at their work stations. They do so many re-shoots that everything has to look exactly the same every day,” the source told the Post.

Such allegations of staging and re-shooting scenes may be new for The City, which premieres tonight at 10PM ET/PT on MTV, but they are anything but for The Hills, which has been accused of faking scenes numerous times during its four-season run.

This is my take on the whole thing…. DUH!! Ha ha,  The Hill has got to be the FAKEST of all reality shows. How is it that in every scene, everyone’s hair, makeup and outfits are perfect? There isn’t any bleeping or horribly embarassing moments? I mean, yes, I watch some reality TV (shut up, Rock of Love RULES), but it doesn’t mean I believe that it’s actually real. I am fully aware that many of the “contestants” on shows are often hand picked from bars, strip clubs, etc… People should not be naive about “reality shows” anymore, and know that sometimes scenes are re-shot or staged.

Look, if you don’t realize by now that shows like The Hills are not real, then you deserve to be that stupid.
