So, I was cruising around PunkNews.org and some questions were circling through my mind. I went to the FAQ section, and noticed some question’s that I’ve NEVER seen in a FAQ before.
Example:
Why do you cover mainstream bands like Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance?
Secondly, articles about mainstream acts help bring in new readers. These are the “gateway bands,” and a fan of Fall Out Boy who arrives at Punknews looking for news will hopefully be exposed to some more underground acts and expand their own tastes. We all started somewhere.
It’s also not like putting up a story about the Alkaline Trio prevents us from putting up one about the Buzzcocks. Everyone can be happy. Woo!

puke.
I often wonder the same crap myself about certain websites. Then again… my website has the word “punk” in it and I talk about how awesome Daisy DeLaHoya is (haha, from ROL II and the upcoming Daisy of Love on VH1), so maybe people wonder the same crap about me?
But on the note of Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance being “gateway bands, ” I totally disagree.

<3 her!!!
As I’ve expressed before, I think “punk” is harder to define than most things because it can apply to so many different areas. The main thing before punk is simply not caring about what anyone else thinks and doing what you want, which is one reason I write about whatever the hell I want on this site, without worry about what all the tards out there will think.
Anywho- I just thought that PunkNews.org’s FAQ was funny, because they’re usually like “Where do I find…. How do I email… Where can I get….” kind of questions, and they have questions like the one mentioned before and “Isn’t punk dead?” haha, so yeah.. I just thought that was interesting!

Plus it’s actually a cool site. They review a lot of albums, talk about new music, band break-ups and have a lot of contests. You should check it out of you get a chance.
