1GWAR *interview w/Oderus*
You can’t even categorize this band with any other: Gwar is an entity in itself. Just that one word is so much: amazing music, fucking awesome stage show and all around awesome dudes. How can men in costumes, fishnets and g-strings be so hardcore? Doesn’t matter, it’s GWAR!!!
I must say that this is, by far, one of my favorite interviews I’ve done to date. I can probably safely say that it will remain one of my favorite interviews ever. It’s short, which sucks, but in order to get the real deal, we had to talk literally right before they went on stage. They had a meet and greet right before as well, and then we had to squeeze this in. Luckily, even a crack-addicted creature from a far galaxy can spare a few minutes to chat with Punk World Views. Fuck. Yes.
There are a million things I would love to ask this man… or uh… thing. However, we were limited on time due to their crazy show schedule and whatnot. It was still totally awesome (of course). Check it out!
After a great interview, of course there was a great show. Duh. If you’ve ever been to a Gwar show, you know you will end up tinted green and red… and love every minute of it.
It was more difficult than I thought to get photos, being that I didn’t want my camera to be drenched in “blood” and green crap, and I only was able to be in the barricades for the first three songs, blah blah. However, only the first song was “liquid free” so ya know, I had to take what I could get. Here’s a few pics from the before and during the show, and below is a link to the entire album.
Gwar seems to tour almost every year, so I’d definitely be on the lookout for a stop in your area. Even if you’re not a fan, you WILL be a fan of their live show so check them out! They’re entertaining and just plain great guys. Don’t expect them to ever break character as GWAR because it ain’t happening (yeah, I said ain’t. I am from Kentucky after all). They’ll entertain you, kill you and eat your babies all in one sitting. What more can you ask?
