Is diet soda bad for you??

Okay so, I don’t drink all that much soda, but I definitely drink more diet than regular. I have always heard that diet soda isn’t that great for you, but it is really worse than regular soda? I mean, 200 calories compared to zero? Lots of sugar, compared to none?? How is that worse? Damnit, I want to know!

So, I looked into it a little bit, and according to a study done by getfitslowly.com, people that drink diet soft drinks were more at risk of becoming obese than those that drink regular soft drinks. Whaaat? Now, this isn’t stating that diet sodas causes obesity, but simply that those that are more likely to drink diet soda versus regular.

Apparently, there is a link between metabolic sndrome (a cluster of conditions that occur together, increasing your risk of heart disease, diabetes, and a stroke) and drinking diet soda.

Obviously, people should know that avoiding soda all together is the best thing for you, but that’s easier said than done. I used to be so good about drinking tons of water and avoiding soda, but now that I’m done with rowing, I have this weird feeling like.. I’ve earned it. Haha.. lame, I know. But when you go four years avoiding carbontated drinks to avoid dehydration, you feel like you can have a soda every now and then. Anything in moderation is okay, but I mean, if you have the ability to cut something unhealthy out of your diet, it will be better in the long run, of course.
