John Travolta’s 16-year-old son dies in Bahamas
The teenager had last been seen entering the bathroom on Thursday and had a history of seizures, according to the statement. An autopsy is planned.
Family attorney Michael Ossi said in a statement that Jett died suddenly on Friday. Publicists Samantha Mast and Paul Block released the statement but could not be reached for additional comment.
A local police source said Jett apparently hit his head on the bathtub.
Jett was the oldest child of Travolta, 54, and his wife, actress Kelly Preston, 46, who also have an 8-year-old daughter, Ella Bleu.
Preston has said that Jett became very sick when he was 2 years old and was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease, an illness that leads to inflammation of the blood vessels in young children. She blamed household cleaners and fertilizers, and said that a detoxification program based on teachings from the Church of Scientology helped improve his health, according to People magazine.
It is unclear whether Jett was taking any medications for his seizures.”

Young, Hollywood deaths are usually intrigue readers; but try writing about death as a full-time job, it’ll make your interest a little more.. in depth? Eh, whatever the word is. Every obituary I write, I obviously have that wandering thought, “I wonder how they died?” This is of course more evident when writing of someone younger, than most likely didn’t die of “natural causes” as many of the elderly people I write about. Sometimes it will say “..died due to injuries from a car accident,” or something like that, but sometimes I write an obit for a 19 year-old and never get any explanation.. which is fine, I mean, it’s really none of my business to know if the family doesn’t want to make it public, but it doesn’t mean the question doesn’t float around my mind often while I’m at work.
I have heard that Jett apparently was autistic- but the Travolta’s would never admit it. Why..? I have no idea. I don’t know if they were just trying to protect him.. ashamed? Seems horrible to think so, but who knows? You’d think they could help spread awareness on the subject and help others- or maybe he wasn’t autistic? From videos and photos I’ve seen, I would have to say that he was, but then again, I’m no professional so what do I know?
When researching this death, I stumbled upon this other article called “Autism & Denial” about Jett Travolta. Check it out and decide for yourself: http://www.zimbio.com/Autism/articles/14/Autism+and+Denial
