Only Crime Signs to Rise Records, Posts Album Teaser
Oh ya know, it’s just a band featuring members of just my FAVORITE FUCKING BANDS IN THE WORLD. Only Crime features Russ Rankin (Good Riddance), Aaron Dalbec (Bane/Converge), Bill Stevenson (Black Flag/Descendents/All), Dan Kelly (The Frisk/Tegan And Sara) and Matt Hoffman (Modern Life Is War). The band has been around for quite a bit, but they’ve just signed with Rise Records. A new LP entitled Pursuance will be released on Rise on May 13th. This record will be their first since 2007.
Only Crime released a 35 second teaser video for the record. Check it out below.
If I can be completely honest, I feel like this band is far too good for Rise Records, as in Rise typically puts out shit bands and Only Crime is not a shit band. I have to give the label some credit however, because I feel in the last year or so, they’ve picked up some decent names (Face to Face, 7 Seconds, Hot Water Music, etc..). But whatever. I’m a woman so no need to listen to my opinion!
If you aren’t familiar with Only Crime, they are in the realm of punk/hardcore just like their members’ predeceasing or current bands. They adapt a punk rock energy from the 70′ and 80’s while keeping their music fresh and new sounding.
The band formed in 2002-2003 and dropped their first record, To the Nines, in 2004 and their second one, Virulence, in 2007. Now, with a new lineup in place, the band has spent a substantial amount of time at The Blasting Room creating the new record. This will be the band’s first release on Rise Records and they will be touring the UK/Europe this summer.
