PRB Announces Start of 2018 Lineup
I can’t get over the fact Punk Rock Bowling is about to enter it’s 20th year! WHAT. It all began in 1999 by Shawn and Mark Stern of Youth Brigade, and they set out to have a music festival with integrity.
“We never even thought about it going two years,” says Mark Stern about the festival’s longevity. “We just set up a party for all our friends in bands and labels, and since everyone had such a great time the first year, more people wanted to come out, so we did it again next year.”
Las Vegas will be filled with butt patches once again May 25-28th, kicking off with the late night club shows and going into the long weekend of festival shows followed by more club shows each night. Of course, the name doesn’t come from thin air, the bowling tournament will also be happening with over 800 participants on Saturday, May 26th and the finals on Sunday the 27th. There’s even a Texas Hold ’em poker tournament happening at the Golden Nugget on Friday, so there’s something for everyone!
“I think a lot of the reason that it has continued to grow is because it’s a lot different from a normal festival,” says Mark. “Plus, it’s in Vegas, where there is no curfew. So it just never ends if you don’t want it to.”
The headliner this year will be Rise Against, and it’s also their first time at PRB. 2018 will bring a wave of first-timers, which I am stoked about because as much as I love to see some bands over and over, I also want to have the chance to see some other bands I either have never seen or rarely get to see. But with that said, we will all be seeing NOFX for the 709th time.
Three-day tickets for Punk Rock Bowling & Music Festival are $150 and are on sale now.
Single-day tickets and the daily lineups will be announced in 2018.
