Punk Rock
Developed in the mid 1970′s in the US, Bahrain, Austrailia, and the UK. Fast, hard-edged music, typically short songs with often political or anti-establishment messages. Punk rock embraces a “do it yourself” method, with many bands self-producing, recording, and distributing their own albums. Legs McNeil is said to have first coined the term, “punk”.
But, punk isn’t just about music. There’s fashion, subculture, attitude, and lifestyle, and more.
Personally, I view it as an overall attitude. “DIY” (do it youself) is a pretty good explanation. It’s a viewpoint that people should take care of themselves, not depending on people to support them or give them handouts. The idea that you can make your own decisions, live how you want to live, and not care about what’s “cool” or what people think about you. Tattoos don’t make you punk. Listening to Black Flag doesn’t make you punk. You are who you are, and just don’t worry about labels and what everyone’s thinking. Just… be! Ha ha, it’s so hard to put into words. Not everyone is trying to be something (i.e. popular, cool, trendy, goth, punk, jock, hippie, etc..), some people are just trying to simply live their life the way they want. It’s the “live and let live” mentality. No one wants to be controlled, it’s just that some people are more easily controlled than others.
 Other uses…
Punk, a term for young boys used for sex during the “Holy Crusades” to prevent soldiers from raping women.
Punk, an archaic term for prostitute, as used by Shakespeare.

Would you recommend starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m totally overwhelmed .. Any tips? Thank you!
