Russ Rankin

Having been the frontman to one of Fat Wreck Chords most successful bands, it’s safe to say that Russ Rankin has had a taste of success in the music industry.  He currently sings for a band called Only Crime (Fat Wreck Chords), which also features Bane and Converge guitarist, Aaron Dalbec, drummer, Bill Stevenson of Black Flag, All and the Descendents, and guitarist, Matt Hoffman of Modern Life is War.  The band is based out of Santa Cruz, CA, where Rankin still resides.  He’s a strong advocate of the straight-edge, vegan lifestyle; having led one for quite some time now.  I guess my whiskey and coke diet wouldn’t suit him very much. Darn.

Regarding his experience in this going-to-Hell-industry, I was eager to sit him down and pick his brain. I talked to Russ about life after Good Riddance, hockey, running for office and, what else…? Pink hair. Â Check it out!
