WHERE U AT: Bodyjar
For the second installment of WHERE U AT, I’m digging into what the hell Bodyjar has been doing the last few years. The Australian band released their first album in 1993 and seemed to consistently release records until the mid 2000’s before they took a hiatus. The band really picked up steam in the mid 90’s when they toured with Pennywise and Blink 182, followed by a tour with No Fun at All and Face to Face. They’ve also toured alongside one of my personal favorites, the Descendents, so you know they’ve done pretty well at least at some point.
This isn’t a band that I was ever really into, but they were always lumped in the older days of bands like Millencolin, Descendents, Pennywise and so forth. While it doesn’t seem to have been an official “taking a break/calling it quits” or anything, the band went through a slow stint before releasing their 2013 album, Role Model. A few of the members launched side projects throughout the band’s career, such as Cola Wars, which had both Cam Baines and Shane Wakker involved. The last known members of Bodyjar are Cameron Baines, Grant Relf, Tom Read and Shane Wakker.
As far as what the band is up to now, it seems they played a few shows that went through October/November in Australia. The tour was to celebrate the band’s 15 year anniversary of their How it Works album. If you’re interested in keeping up with the band now, check up on their website and Facebook.
