Why Louisville?

I <3 Louisville!

Don’t get me wrong… I do want to move out of state eventually, but it doesn’t mean that I don’t love Louisville! I need to venture out for career purposes and whatnot, but I highly encourage people to visit this city because there really is a lot here! The first thing I mention to people is that the bars are open until 4 am SEVEN DAYS A WEEK. Yes. That’s right people, 4 am! Around Derby and times like that, they are actually open until 6 am… and trust me, people ARE out until closing time! Ha ha, myself included normally.

I, like many other people here, even have the “city symbol” tattooed! I have a red and black fleur de lis tattooed on my leg.

Yeah sorry for the crappy pic, I’m wearing this sweet ass booties that I have and it actually covers the bottom of the tattoo, ha ha, but it’s done very well and the pic doesn’t do the artist justice at all.  It’s just all I have at the moment! =P

Here’s a random pic of a fleur de lis tattoo I found online:

I was on Associated Content for something completely separate, but then I saw an article called 8 Reasons to Visit Louisville and I had to check it out! I’ve lived here since 2003, so I’ve definitely been around, but I wasn’t born here or anything so I always like to hear the “places to go” and whatnot. However, this article was published back in 2005 so things may have changed a little since then.

One of the reasons mentioned is the great pizza at Wicks and Tony Boombaz.

The reason this “Top 8″ list totally rules, is that it mentions one of my FAVORITE bars here in town: The Back Door.

“For the late night in the Highlands area I would check out Cahoots or The Back Door. Both bars are insanely affordable and the drinks are some of the strongest that I’ve ever had. The Back Door has a wonderful pool room and has been featured in magazines like Maxim and FHM. Cahoots is a very eclectic bar with a dark, edgy atmosphere.”

The Back Door always has a diverse crowd, along with excellent drinks and bar food. It’s great to start a tab there, because instead of being like “Oh shit..” when you see your $50+ bar tab, you’re like “Hell yeah!” when you see your $12 tab, yet you’re either trashed or feelin pretty good. Ha ha, gotta love The Back Door!!

Not only is Louisville great, but we are close to many other large cities as well. Cincinnati is only about 90 minutes away, Indianapolis is about two hours, Chicago is about six hours, Nashville and St. Louis is about four hours.. and I’m sure there are more but those are off the top of my head :)
