Texas is the reason… for this band. (random Misfits reference? alright!) Look: If you’ve heard Woe, Is Me, We Came As Romans, Of Mice & Men, Emarosa, etc… then you’ve heard this band. Â But hey, if you like them, you would probably like A Bullet For Pretty Boy‘s debut album, Revision: Revise, because it’s pretty much sounds like all of those bands. Â However, some do it better than others, and ABFAPB are definitely not BAD, they just aren’t original in their craft. Â In such a generic genre, it’s hard to get on my good side. Sorry, kids.

I have to say this band’s name bothers me more than the music, for sure. Then again, this is coming from a chick that would probably name my own band something like “Baby Eaters” or “Bloody Anus” (don’t steal those, assholes). Â haha, WIN.

The number five track, “Only Time Will Tell” has more clean vocals than most, so if you’re worried about the screamo-vibe, you should start with that one. Â While most bands in this genre seem to alternate the singing-screaming vocals, ABFPB seems to combine the two on top of each other in more harmony than others. Â Overall, it’s a decent debut album. Â Nothing original about it, but they don’t butcher anything either. Â If I had to choose a band they remind me of the most, it’d have to be a mix of Woe, Is Me and Of Mice & Men.

Don’t get me wrong, there are some scene-ish bands that I listen to. Â I am actually obsessing about MSWHITE right now, and they are totally in that genre. Â I will give anyone a chance and have an open mind about it, but I am definitely more skeptical diving into an album of a band that has an eight syllable name and already typecast in the metalcore/screamo genre. Â *sigh* Where are all my punk rockers? Hardcore kids? COME BACK!!
