Album Review: LightSpeedGo (punk)

review by Brandon Mizar

Formed in April 2012 and based out of Tempe, Arizona; LightSpeedGo have released a new five song E.P. entitled “New Direction.” This E.P. is reminiscent of the great 90’s punk bands like Enemy You, Face to Face and Unwritten Law. Although this band is new they are well rooted into the Arizona punk rock scene. The band has former members of the bands Off The Mark, Look Out Look, The Ultramatics, The Dead Irrelevants and No Gimmick.

Track List

1. Ruined
2. I’m Gone
3. Methany
4. Sinner
5. New Direction

“New Direction” will be on heavy rotation for quite some time as the skate punk genre has a special place in my heart. Do yourself a favor and give this skate/pop punk band a listen and support the scene! You will not be disappointed with this album and I can’t think of a better way to spend $5. If you love melodic vocals on top of loud and fast punk rock, you will love this E.P.

LightSpeedGo consists of: Rico Caldera (Guitar/Vocals), Paul Levesque (Bass/Vocals) and Marty Mcdevitt (Drums).

You can catch LightSpeedGo sharing the stage with punk legends Pulley on March 22nd at the Yucca Tap Room in Tempe, AZ.
