One of punk rock’s hardest working band’s is back. Why are they one of the hardest working bands? Because not only do they tour constantly, but ‘Room For One More’ is The Raging Nathans’ fourth full-length in five years. That is not an easy thing to accomplish. It’s also worth mentioning that on top of all of that their lead singer and guitarist runs a record label. So with all of this context to consider, how does ‘Room For One More’ hold up?

To be quite frank, it’s easily one of the best pop-punk records to come out in 2025 so far. And I’m sure that it will consistently be one of the higher-ranking ones as we approach the second half of the year. The lead track, “The Grudge” really sets the tone of the album. The thunderous drums and shrieking lead guitar licks give you the impression that this is The Raging Nathans in overdrive — they have added an even more aggressive tone to their style here and throughout the album.

But in other tunes like “Front Toward Enemy” the band does stick to their more lighter sound with big, anthemic, three-part vocal melodies that intersect with yet another handful of impressive lead guitar licks. And while sonically it is a brighter-sounding track, the lyrics even that out with lines like, “You make me so mad I know just what to do/I’m gonna get far away from you/Far away from you.”

The Raging Nathans also touch upon some melodic hardcore especially with the song, “Oh, The Places You’ll Gloat!” It’s easily the fastest track on of the twelve on the record. The swift and deep palm-muting mixed with the hard crashes of the drums really makes “Oh, The Places You’ll Gloat!” a highlight of the album. And in true melodic hardcore fashion, the lead singing is full of massive “woah’s” and “aah’s” from the backing vocalists, which eventually get complemented with another shrieking guitar solo for the outro.

The Raging Nathans is one of those bands where each new album is better than the last. On each release the musicianship and overall song writing gets taken to a whole new level. ‘Room For One More’ definitely continues this trend for them.
