0Alien Ant Farm “Always and Forever” Album Review
Fresh with a new album thanks to Pledge Music is Alien Ant Farm. Always And Forever will be released on February 24th via Executive Music/The End Records. This record is the first in five years for the grammy nominated band.
The first single ‘Homage’ was released at the end of the summer in 2014 and is more pop driven then the rest of the album. Not that most of the album is not radio friendly, but songs like ‘Yellow Pages’ and ‘Let Em Know’ are more rock and alternative driven. Most of the songs will feature the standard poppy and quasi-catchy chorus with verses full of guitar riffs and thick sounding bass lines.
Tracklist:
1. Yellow Pages
2. Simpatico
3. Burning
4. Let Em Know
5. Our Time
6. Homage
7. Sidelines
8. Little Things (Physical)
9. Crazy Love
10. American Pie
11. Godlike
12. Better Weather
13. Dirty Bomb
The first half of the album is more for fans of the alternative rock/heavier material while after ‘Homage’ (dead smack middle of the album at track six) features softer songs with more emphasis on vocals and easy to listen chord progressions. Thankfully there is a guitar adding leads and melodies on top of the progressions because it could get a little dry after a while.
This album is a bit surprising too, songs have stop-and-go progressions much like the pop-punk bands of today like to use. There are multiple ballads on here and for a 48 minute album Alien Ant Farm did a good job sequencing them all so each song does not sound like the previous one. Overall Always And Forever is a generic Alien Ant Farm record. Everything you can expect from this band will be present, the riffs, the drum lines, the inclusion of great bass lines and the steady vocals. At last it is safe to say the ant is still kicking.
