0Bayside Announce New EP + Tour
Pop-punkers from Queens, Bayside, just announced they will be releasing a new EP Oct 23th via Gumshoe Records. Putting a cherry on that shit, they also confirmed a slew of tour dates with Taking Back Sunday this fall.
The new EP will be entitled Covers – Volume 1. The band actually owns Gumshoe Records, which is the same label that released vocalist Anthony Raneri’s solo album. You have to respect the band’s DIY efforts in releasing this music; this record is being funded, released and shipped by the band.
If you’re curious by the title, YES, the album will be tackling songs the band didn’t write but rumor has it the tracks won’t be “obvious influences” according to the official press release.
Frontman Raneri says:
“We are locking in a new label right now and intend to start writing a new album in January. However we wanted to put out something to tide over our fans until we can deliver another album. We have become known for doing cover songs during our live shows and doing a covers EP is a blast for us. However these aren’t standard covers that people in our scene would think that we would do. These are songs that we grew up on and would love to share the influence to a new generation who may not know them.”
You can expect songs from such artists such as Van Morrison, The Ronettes, Del Shannon, Elvis Costello and Billy Joel. The new record will also mark the return of Shep Goodman as producer for the band, whose also produced two other Bayside albums.
