1Brooks Wackerman Confirms New Spot as Avenged Sevenfold Drummer
A mere few days after Brooks Wackerman announced his voluntary departure from Epitaph’s Bad Religion, it’s official that he will be the new drummer for Avenged Sevenfold. Brooks has known the band [ASF] since meeting them at Warped Tour in 2004.
“Jimmy [‘The Rev’ Sullivan’] and I always had a mutual respect for each other’s drumming styles,” Wackerman says of A7X’s original drummer who passed away in 2009. “He was always amazing and innovative, and it’s an honor to play his parts live. I look forward to recording this new record with A7X, a band that I’ve always respected for their creativity and diversity in sound.”
Avenged Sevenfold vocalist, M. Shadows, and Wackerman officially announced the news on Chris Jericho’s podcast, Talk Is Jericho. You can check out that episode below.
While ASF is a successful band, I can’t imagine what would possess Brooks to leave an iconic, awesome band like Bad Religion, but he clearly has his reasons. Stay tuned for more updates both on Brooks’ experience with the band as well as who Bad Religion will choose as their new drummer.
