Call The Cops

They’ve been named one of the Top 100 bands you need to know in 2010 by Alternative Press, and after great success with their debut EP, Motion Sickness, the SoCal boys of Call The Cops are back with their first full length album, [self titled] Call The Cops. Available June 22, 2010!

For fans of bands like Cobra Starship and other electro-pop groups, you will definitely like this album. As a punk rocker, I normally steer away from album like this… however (I’ll be kicked in the face by someone in a studded Rancid jacket later for this), I can’t help but want to dance and sing along to these catchy songs. I feel like for such poppy music, the lyrics aren’t so retarded, but more entertaining than normal.  They’re like a less lame version of Cobra Starship, and with a way less annoying vocalist…. 🙂

The first track, Like It Like That, was a good choice for an opener. It lays a good sound out to show you what they’re about and it EXTREMELY catchy. Honestly, the first half of the album is definitely the best, and as it continues it kind of loses your attention a bit, but one of my favorites has to be White Dress, which has lyrics like, “I’m sorry, I don’t care what you said but you can fill that space in my bed.” I mean, if those lyrics don’t appeal to you… then you’re lame. Ha ha, no but really, they’re humorous while being honest and just writing catchy stuff, so even if you’re not into electro-pop style music normally, you should still check these guys out!

June 22, 2010, fans can grab Call The Cops for themselves, just in time to catch them on this summer’s Van’s Warped Tour. Be sure to check their MySpace for all the dates and latest updates.
