The summer of 2005 was the beginning of the journey for the boys of Israel’s Kill The Drive. Â Thanks to the wonderful creation called facebook, I discovered this band very recently. Â From my few conversations with drummer, Gideon Berger, I had an urge to help these guys. Â Hailing from an area that isn’t particularly known for it’s music, this band comes pretty unexpected! Israel pop punk is where it’s AT.

Kill the Drive‘s story started in the summer of 2005 when the group first got together. The members had played together before, but in different bands. As soon as the band was ready, its members started touring all over Israel and shared stages with Israel’s biggest punk/hardcore/metal bands such as Betzefer (Roadrunner Records), Useless ID (Suburban home, kung fu), Man Alive (The Militia Group), and even got a chance to open for a few international acts, such as NOFX, Sick Of It All, and Horse the Band just to name a few. Soon enough, Kill the Drive earned a reputation of being one of the hardest working and most devoted bands in Israel.
In march 2006 Kill the Drive released “Short Notice”, an E.P, which includes 7 songs of the bands earlier work. Later that year, the band released a full length album titled “Road Kill”, which was a self produced effort. In June 2007 kill the drive went on their first US tour, where they focused the majority of their time on the West Coast.
After returning to Israel, KTD started writing their follow up to “Road Kill”. Once the band put together 30 songs, they decided it would be a good idea to call in Yotam Ben Horin (Useless ID), in order to help them decide which of the songs is album worthy. They went in the studio, and recorded “A Postcard from Hell” with Yotam at the helm as the producer, and Reiner (K.T.D vocals) as the main engineer. The album was later mixed/mastered by Daniel Balistocky @ the Oval Office studios L.A.
In January 2009 the band signed a deal with the Japanese record label RADTONE MUSIC (Much The Same, A Wilhelm Scream,The Swellers). And “A Postcard from Hell” was released in Japan in may 2009. In February 2009 Kill the drive moved to London for two months of touring and promoting the band.
After making a few changes, the band’s lineup stabilized in early 2010 with Reiner on Vocals and Rhythm Guitar, Gideon Berger on Drums , Nadav Rotem (Bass and back Vocals) and Or Yaakov (Lead guitar and back vocals).
The band is currently working on demoing songs for their 3rd LP, which is scheduled to be recorded this spring.
