You know what I thought when I heard Citizen Fish had a new album coming? FUCK YES. Â This band is so rad and just reminds me of good times. Â Ya’ got this guy named Dick doing vocals that looks like he could easily be your grandpa to kick ass upbeat, ska tunes that just put you in a good mood.
Since 1990, these scumbags have been making music and it’s been way too fucking long since their last release! Their split with fellow scumbags, Leftover Crack, was back in 2007 (Deadline), but they haven’t had a full album released in almost ten years. CRICKEY! Thank god they’re back in the game!
Track listing | |

When I first hit play, the initial beat from Shelf Life baffled me like… “whoa, THIS sounds different…” (but I definitely wasn’t turned off by it), but then literally about ten seconds into it, that comforting Citizen Fish ska came ringing through my speakers, and I had a “FUUUUCK YEAH” going through my head.
Human Conditioner is one of the tracks that stood out to be when I first listened to the album in its entirety. Â It’s just good, catchy shit. Â The chorus kinda makes you wanna bob your head, and you know what I say? BOB AHEAD. Â The car next to you might make fun of you, but rest assured you’re much cooler than them for the simple fact you’re listening to the new Citizen Fish album.
“The whole planet is going insane.” Words of wisdom, brought to you by Citizen Fish. Â The eighth track, Insane, goes on to talk about how retardo this world has become, and it’s like you’re out of place when you’re a sane person. Â I definitely agree with this philosophy, making this track another favorite.
As a whole, this album fucking rules. Â I didn’t expect anything less from these dudes, as most things they’ve released have been SKAtastically entertaining.
Go pick up Goods March 1st, or you can pre-order the album from Interpunk and get a free patch while supplies last!
