Derek Grant (Alkaline Trio) Announces Pre-Orders For Solo Project
Derek Grant is my second favorite Alkaline Trio drummer after Glenn Porter… just wanted to throw that in there. But anyway, Derek is releasing the debut album of his new project, Breakdown. The release is set for January 20th via Red Scare Industries. Grant commented on the release:
“Breakdown’ just seemed appropriate for what I was going through at the time. My relationship had fallen apart and I was dealing with it in some very unhealthy ways. The upside was I started writing lyrics for the first time in nearly a decade.”
The album is available for pre-order now. The eight tracks were written in Los Angeles, Portland, Chicago, Detroit and New York while he was going through a divorce and dealing with various other issues, including substance abuse. The songs were a way to aid his recovery and provide therapy for the drummer. Tour dates will be released soon!
