0Direct Hit “Domesplitter” Review
Direct Hit
Nick Woods – guitar
Danny Walkowiak – drums
Robbie Schroeder – bass
For a band with five EP’s under their belt, I’m surprised I hadn’t got wind of Direct Hit earlier. Although Domesplitter will be the band’s first full-length release, as soon as I hit play, I was in new band heaven.
Tracklist:
1. Snickers Or Reese’s (Pick Up The Pieces)
2. Satan Says
3. Monster In The Closet
4. Kingdom Come
5. Boredom Addict
6. Failed Invasion
7. We Are Alone
8. Living Dead
9. In Orbit
10. They Came For Me
Before I even hit play, I had a good feeling about the track names. Not too cheesy, not trying to hard… a good solid mix. Then, the first track hit me with that pop punk awesomeness. They immediately reminded me of a mix between Off With Their Heads and Against Me!
Satan Says is the second track on the album, and it eases into the song a bit more, but as soon as the vocals hit, I look forward to the rest. I’m so stoked on the record already and I’m not even five minutes into it… this is rad and totally rare coming from a band I had never heard before.
Living Dead sounds like it would likely be a single off the record due to it’s catchy chorus and sing-a-long chants. Speaking of chants, this album actually has a lot of anthem-like songs with chanting choruses and whatnot. Not in an obnoxious way like Anti-Flag can do, but in a happy-go-lucky sort of way. It rules.
I think Monster in the Closet is one of my favorite tracks on the album. It’s got everything you’d want in a pop punk song and it can’t help but put a happy, dumbass smirk on my face.
Domesplitter is out now on Kind of Like Records, so GO GET THIS SHIT.
