Don’t Let This Concert Tragedy Slip Through the Cracks (Romania)
The Paris attacks are horrific and very tragic, and so with all of that in the news and effecting so many music industry friends of mine, I thought I would shine a little light on a similar event that happened a few weeks ago that no one seemed to talk about.
Friday, October 30th, a fire broke out in Bucharest (Romania) at the Colectiv nightclub at Goodbye to Gravity record release party. The band was signed with Universal Music Romania and four of the band members died in that night, along with 30 other people at the show and 150 injured. A fire broke out due to the band’s pyrotechnics, which is obviously not a terrorist attack or anything terrible like that, but nonetheless, many people lost their lives.
Romania gained new heroes that night as many concert goers were seen going back in and out of the burning club to save lives, and many of those people ended up not coming out alive but were able to save the lives of many. One example was Adrian Rugin? (a known sound engineer in Romania) and Claudiu Petre (blogger and photographer, Mahmur.info) went back into the burning club several times to get the injured out, but unfortunately did not survive. Popovici Pavlos Gabriel and Laurentiu Costache, two 15 year-old fans who took their disabled friend to the show, also managed to save their friend, but suffered serious burns in the process, and remain in hospital in critical condition.
