Despite suffering one of the worst things you can ever encounter in a lifetime, GWAR continued with their tour across the country after facing the shocking death of their guitarist and friend, Cory Smoot (also known as Flattus Maximus). They might have laced back up in their monstrous uniforms, but they have done anything but forget their fallen friend and bandmate.
Only canceling a few shows for the services, their set at the House of Blues in Hollywood was the first show after the tragic events. I was there to catch them perform, and as always, it was an experience. Starting with a slideshow of Cory/Flattus photos, fans cheered and chanted with their metal fingers in the air. The band came out and the crowd went so crazy, the barricade (in which I was in front of) actually shot toward the stage about two feet, nearly severing all the photographers in half. Luckily, only fake blood was shed that night, so check out the photos.
