0Bloody Hell
November 16, 2010 – The House of Blues in Hollywood had to make their stage resemble a scene from Dexter (if you don’t watch that show, you’re a loserrrr… or don’t have Showtime), covering each square in with plastic. Â Fancy.
Not only were the old men in thongs and fishnets taking the stage, but punk veterans The Casualties (SideOneDummy) were warming it up for them. Â It’s been a while since I’ve seen them live, but it looks like they’ve still got it! Â They’ve toured the world and stuck true to their sound, even eight full length albums and three EP’s later. Â Whether the “golden era” of punk is over or not, The Casualties continue bringing a high energy, street punk sound to the stage.
After the colorful hair and extensive tattoos left the stage, it was time. Slowly but surely (they are known for being a tease when it comes to entering the stage), the middle aged, thong wearing, beasts from another planet, stepped in front of the crowd… and it was over. Â There wasn’t a dry seat in the house, thanks to the chopping of heads and spewing of bloody sperm or whatever you might want to call the juices these men extract.
I am never disappointed with these boys. Â They definitely put on one hell of a performance… however, their show isn’t for everyone. Â If you’re lame, you probably won’t be into it. Oh, and if you don’t like throwing away clothes, you also won’t be into it. Â For dudes as old as your dad, GWAR never fails at being entertaining. Â Do people even CARE about what the music sounds like anymore? I don’t know, and don’t care honestly. Â Either way, the kids sing along and love getting squirted in the face. Â Now that’s love.
