0Live Interview (with Photos)
PWV sent Chad Elder to to a time warp at the House of Blues in Hollywood to catch Live. I wasn’t able to make the show but I caught up with the band later for a quick interview with drummer, Chad Gracey. Check out our talk below and the photos from the set! I also included a Live music video to jog your memory at the bottom.
Live seemed to be on hiatus since 2009 and the band reemerged in 2012 with a new vocalist. What happened in between?
Our former singer decided to pursue a solo career and was not happy writing in an ensemble. After a couple of years Chad, Patrick and I decided that if we could find a singer we would maybe play again as LIVE. The first call was Chris Shinn and it was pretty easy from the get go. So here we are with a new record “The Turn”.
How did the band find Chris [Shinn] after the original singer’s departure?
We have known Chris since 2000 when his band Unified Theory opened for us and Counting Crows. So we called him up and he was into it immediately.
Do you feel like fans are receiving the band well with a new frontman or are they still warming up to the idea?
Of course there was some hesitation but the true fans knew there was stagnation in the music so most were in favor of something new. Now with the release of the turn the fans can listen to what we have accomplished with Chris. LIVE is back making music the way we did in the early days and the fans love it!
You just released a new album, The Turn. Was it different writing and recording an album now versus 10+ years ago?
Writing and recording was different this time mostly because we had a new fresh member to write with. We also got to record at our brand new state of the art studio in York, Pa that we just built called Think Loud Studios.
The year is winding down- do you have any favorite albums of 2014?
I’m digging the new Foo Fighters record.
What do you see Live doing in 2015? Do you have big touring plans or want to start writing another new record?
In 2015 LIVE will most likely do some touring in the summer.
