It’s been a few years since we’ve heard anything from this band, but they’re coming back into our lives with a jam-packed party playlist. From the get-go, this album makes me stoked on living in California and gives me that “school just got out for summer” feeling, and who the hell wouldn’t like that?
The melodic vocals in The Unsilent Majority are almost as catchy as the riffs in Want It All, which seems like a song about almost everyone cool I know. On top of the ultra-catchy beach vibe of the album, the production quality is super. It’s crisp and professional and I would expect nothing less from a record label run by none other than El Hefe (and his lady, Jen).
I thought I’m Your Density was a typo from wherever I copied and pasted the track list, but NOPE. I don’t really understand the premise of the song, and in the 37 seconds that it lasts, I don’t really have time to figure it out. However, it’s still rad.
Rock Out With Your Clock Out is an anthem for all those full-time job goers. I mean… come on, you have to appreciate a good pun. I think all of us have been there at one point or another in our lives; staring at the clock thinking an hour and a half to freedom. This song makes me think of all the people at shows on the weekend just getting shit-piss drunk and screaming along because they’ve been working all week and it’s what they’ve been looking forward to since purchasing their pre-sale ticket a month ago.
The title track, Beards in Paradise, is maybe my least favorite on the album just because it’s so heavily ska-sounding, which isn’t usually my jam. However, it does make me want to share a cold on with some friends. The entire 22-minute album makes me just want to know how to surf. Damnit.
Case in point: all the songs make me want to drink a margarita on the beach or at least be in a bikini somewhere without a care in the world. I dig it. You can purchase the album now over on the Cyber Tracks online store.
