Masked Intruder “Incriminating Evidence: 2011 Demos” Review

review by Sean Gonzalez

Masked Intruder can make four demos sound just as exciting as their actual counterparts. All four songs found on Incriminating Evidence: 2011 Demos are songs that were later featured on actual albums or EPs. This just shows how deep the band’s catalogue was before they officially had a release.

Tracklist

1. How Do I Get To You

2. I Fought The Law (But The Law Beat The Shit Out Of Me)

3. I Plead The 5th

4. Im In (Unrequited) Love

Regardless if these songs are heard later on in a separate album, they still have the same happy go lucky atmosphere with the punk DIY mentality. ‘I Fought The Law (But The Law Beat The Shit Out Of Me)’ still has a considerable amount of charm embedded in it’s roots. ‘How Do I Get To You’ blasts through a catchy chord progression with the drums and bass helping lay a sold foundation for the song to naturally build on.

The production for these four demos is pretty magnificent. The drums still sound snappy and the bass is audible. The vocals are still harmonizing very well without taking too much away from the musicianship. Masked Intruder show just how early it was their punk spirit was able to shine with this release. Although still only demos, it is pretty neat to hear how ready this band was to take on the industry.
