I’m beginning to appreciate Razor & Tie more and more as a label. Â They have such a wide variety of bands on their roster, you can’t but commend them for not signing the same band 25 times. Â They’ve got bands like All That Remains, The Graduate and, of course, Ocean is Theory. Â For the first time, I saw Ocean is Theory live at the world famous Viper Room in West Hollywood. I hadn’t been to that many shows there really, and I tend to avoid it as a hangout because it’s full of $10 drinks and well… I’m a broke punk rocker that just wants a $4 whiskey and coke. Leave me alone.
Anyway, I checked out the show and while it’s not my norm, they were by far the best band on the bill that night (hence them being the headliners). Â They also sounded great live, which is something that, unfortunately, is getting harder and harder to come by these days. I mean.. with all the auto-tune, studio bullshit out there today. Gahh.
So for all you indie-rock-hipster people, you should check out Ocean is Theory. Â But wait… they aren’t like.. one of those annoying hipster bands, or a band that everyone likes just because it’s “cool” but they actually blow (*cough cough* KILLERS). Â Check them out and check out their live show if you ever have the chance! They’re also currently working on new material so you’ll have that to look forward to.
