Photos: Ghost @ The Fillmore
Whether intentional or not, the first U.S. stop of Ghost’s tour in support of new album “Meliora” was perfectly timed to coincide with the D.C. arrival of Pope Francis (Franky, if you’re nasty). Unfortunately, this meant the band was unable to offer the usual unholy communion during “Body and Blood” because “the other guy took all the wafers,” as Papa Emeritus III would later go on to tell the crowd between songs. But a little thing like that didn’t stop the Swedes — who had British psychedelic rockers Purson in tow on their first stateside tour — from spreading their hellborn hymns to the masses packed like sardines into Silver Spring’s Fillmore.
