0Photos: Lamb of God, Slipknot @ This Summer’s Last Stand Tour
Few bands that came up during the late-’90s/early-’00s Ozzfest scene can claim the longevity Slipknot have. Oft-maligned by the kvlter-than-thou, their ever-evolving masked visages and sound have given them a marketability akin to an angry KISS. The nine-piece tandem’s This Summer’s Last Stand Tour rolled into Bristow, VA, Tuesday night with Lamb of God, Bullet For My Valentine, and openers Motionless In White in tow. Noticeably divided on openers Motionless in White’s Marilyn-Manson-meets-metalcore schtick and singing along sporadically during Bullet For My Valentine, the crowd came to life when home state heroes Randy Blythe and Co. hit the stage, bodies flying frequently over the security barricade for the remainder of the evening. By the time Slipknot’s spectacle of flames and false faces hit the stage, the energy was at fever pitch as even those in the Jiffy Lube Live amphitheater’s pavilion began diving over seats.
