0Shattered Sun’s Robert Garza Talks Rockstar Mayhem Tour and What’s Next
Shattered Sun drummer Robert Garza took the time to talk to PWV about their upcoming slot on this summer’s Rockstar Mayhem Festival tour. This six-piece Texas band signed to Victory Records earlier this year and will be on the entire run of the tour. You can see where to find them when they aren’t playing and what’s coming up for the band! Check it out.
What band on the Rockstar Mayhem lineup are you most excited to see?
Besides Slayer and King Diamond, I am really excited to check out Jungle Rot, and Sister Sin. More so Jungle Rot because they look like they can get the crowd to go pretty wild!
Is this your first time playing Mayhem? Have you ever been?
We actually won a battle of the bands to open up for the Austin Texas date of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival back in 2013, but this is our first time doing the whole summer tour, so we are all pretty excited and ready to take on the summer heat!
You recently released a track by track breakdown of your latest album, Hope Within Hatred. What made you want to release the breakdown?
Basically to give some insight to our listeners. It’s one thing for our listeners to read and make their our interpretation of the lyrics but we wanted to let them know exactly what was behind all the meanings of Marcos’s lyrics.
You just wrapped up the Dark Roots of Thrash II Tour. Did you hit up any new cities on this one that you hadn’t played before?
Actually about 90% of the dates off the Dark Roots of Thrash II tour were uncharted territories for us. We played around the west coast area a few times but this time around we went to the east coast as well with an additional Canadian & Florida date. But we look forward to hitting those areas again!
What will you be doing at Mayhem when you’re not on the Victory stage?
Besides raging side stage with the other bands, I personally will be wandering around the festival grounds trying to kick it and see what kind of shenanigans I can get into.
What do you have coming up after your wrap up Mayhem?
After the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival we are going to take a few weeks off before getting back out on the road with Soulfly, Soilwork, and Decapitated on the We Sold Our Souls to Metal tour.
