<p id="caption-attachment-7071" class="wp-caption-text">Available Today!! 11.2.10</p>
</div>
<p>Today <strong>Fearless Records</strong> released the third edition of <strong>Punk Goes Pop</strong>; a compilation of metal-core, pop-punk bands covering chart topping pop songs such as Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake and more.</p>
<p>Previous Punk Goes Pop albums have sold over 600,000 copies and two million singles. Â It&#8217;s only one of the many series that Fearless has released, among <strong>Punk Goes Crunk, Punk Goes Classic Rock </strong>and<strong> Punk Goes Acoustic</strong>.</p>
<p>I think this is definitely a good idea and I can see how they can continue to release volumes. Â I mean&#8230; there are constantly new chart topping hits from pop artists and it&#8217;s always intriguing to hear them played by a different genre. Â My biggest negative toward the series is I don&#8217;t consider any of these bands &#8220;punk&#8221; really&#8230; I mean&#8230; I definitely consider them more screamo, metal core, pop-punk&#8230; etc. Â I don&#8217;t even know what to call Family Force 5&#8230; Christian pop-rock?</p>
<div id="attachment_7078" style="width: 410px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a rel="attachment wp-att-7078" href="http://punkworldviews.com/punk-goes-pop-iii-album-review/news_1199889420_family_force_5_/"><img decoding="async" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-7078" class="size-full wp-image-7078"  src="http://punkworldviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/news_1199889420_FAMILY_FORCE_5_.jpg" alt="" width="400" height="400" srcset="https://punkworldviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/news_1199889420_FAMILY_FORCE_5_.jpg 400w, https://punkworldviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/news_1199889420_FAMILY_FORCE_5_-300x300.jpg 300w, https://punkworldviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/news_1199889420_FAMILY_FORCE_5_-100x100.jpg 100w, https://punkworldviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/news_1199889420_FAMILY_FORCE_5_-50x50.jpg 50w, https://punkworldviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/news_1199889420_FAMILY_FORCE_5_-186x186.jpg 186w" sizes="(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px" /></a></p>
<p id="caption-attachment-7078" class="wp-caption-text">Family Force 5</p>
</div>
<p>As for the tracks I love and the tracks I loathe&#8230; my favorite is definitely track 9, which is <strong>Rise Records</strong>&#8216; band, <strong>Of Mice &amp; Men</strong> covering <em>Blame It</em> by Jamie Foxx. Â They actually put their own sound on the track instead of trying to make it sound like the original. Â This is also the first released recording by them with their new vocalist, <strong>Jerry Roush</strong>. Â I was pleasantly surprised with how good Roush sounded on the track. Â Of screamers in the genre, he seems to be one of the more &#8220;understandable&#8221; ones, which is a nice break from the typical screeching growls from many scene bands.</p>
<p><strong>Miss May I </strong>covered <em>Run This Town</em> by Jay Z, and it&#8217;s another favorite of mine from the bunch. Â <strong>Woe, Is Me&#8217;</strong>s cover of <em>Hot N Cold</em> by Katy Perry is probably the most unique cover of them all. Â From the second that track started, I knew it was Woe, Is Me, which is a great quality to have when doing a cover. Â You should respect the original song but definitely add your own sound to it. Â I don&#8217;t see the point in trying to make a cover sound exactly like the original&#8230; I mean.. it&#8217;s not karaoke. (Otherwise, we&#8217;d hear Journey, right?)</p>
<div id="attachment_7085" style="width: 410px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a rel="attachment wp-att-7085" href="http://punkworldviews.com/punk-goes-pop-iii-album-review/missmayi/"><img decoding="async" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-7085" class="size-full wp-image-7085 "  src="http://punkworldviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Miss+May+I.jpg" alt="" width="400" height="507" srcset="https://punkworldviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Miss+May+I.jpg 500w, https://punkworldviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Miss+May+I-473x600.jpg 473w" sizes="(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px" /></a></p>
<p id="caption-attachment-7085" class="wp-caption-text">Miss May I</p>
</div>
<p>I am NOT a fan of the first track, <strong>Breathe Carolina</strong>&#8216;s cover of <em>Down</em> by Jay Sean. Just seems kind of bland to me, but it could also be because I&#8217;m not a huge fan of that band to begin with. Â The Lady Gaga cover by <strong>Artist Vs. Poet </strong>isn&#8217;t a top choice either, simply because they didn&#8217;t really make it their own.</p>
<p>All in all, the album is definitely interesting. Â If you&#8217;re a fan of Fearless Records&#8217; type of bands, I&#8217;d definitely check them out. Â Getting to hear them in a new light is cool and you get to hear some different sounding vocals from most of the bands, so it&#8217;s worth checking out. Â It&#8217;s available today so get off the computer and go get one!!</p>
