Fresh on the Artery Young Guns Tour with The Air I Breath, Ten After Two, Scarlett O’Hara and Lions!Tigers!Bears! this band has a lot ahead for them. Â They’ve just released their debut album, First Born, out now on Rise Records.

Many of you are rolling your eyes, I’m sure… “oh fuck… ANOTHER Rise Records band?” blah blah.. and yes, you’re very right, it’s another RIse Records band! However, I’ve learned that to truly gage a new band, you must disregard any preconceived notions about the on-paper details of the band (i.e. the label, genre, look, etc..). Â If you just start blank and listen to them, you can become a much better judge of their sound. Â You can describe a band or pigeonhole them all you’d like, but they could blow your mind or sound totally different. Now… I’m not saying this band blew my mind by any means, but I do actually like them better than the majority of Rise bands.

Their debut album, First Born, is out today and I have to say… I don’t mind it at all! Yeah.. don’t love it, but I really don’t hate it either.

They remind me a little of another Rise band, MSwhite, who I actually love. Â They’re heavy but still have the clean vocalist to break it up a bit. Â The screams vary from deep and throaty to a little more lighter, which is a variety I like versus a lot of deep, hard to understand screaming.

The album starts off with a powerful track called The Father’s Seed. It has sort of a creepy, church anthem feel in some parts. Â The album continues with a similar theme in the songs, nothing too big really separates one from the other, but they definitely aren’t bad by any means. Â Miscarriage is probably one of the more favorable tracks on the album. It has a little more of a metal/hardcore feel than some of the other songs, and the gang-chorus is more than okay. Â Definitely worth giving a whirl if you’re curious or in need of some new music!
