They’ve been releasing music for over a decade and my fingers are crossed that they don’t stop anytime soon! Thrice (Vagrant Records) has been a love/hate band with me for a while due to the roller coaster sound from album to album…. meaning that I’ll LOVE one album, loathe the next, then love the next two, hate the next, etc…
In my opinion, their latest release, Major/Minor, is their best album to date. Dustin Kensrue’s vocals are so bone-chillingly good I can’t even take it sometimes. Vagrant really has a gem in these boys. Despite not enjoying all of their releases, I’ve never thought ill of them as a band. I have and always will back that they’re a great group of musicians.
On top of a killer new album, Thrice puts on one of the best lives shows I’ve seen. They sound dead-on, if not better, when playing live. Last night I caught the boys at The Mayan Theatre in downtown Los Angeles, and HOLY SHIT…. it was awesome.
Check out a video I shot featuring seven songs from their set at the Mayan!
Here are some of my photos from the show:
