Tubin’ It Up

Obviously, YouTube is a HUGE hit on the world wide web. It has done wonders for music, making it easier than ever to watch music videos or live concert footage.

Screw the TV! Watch YouTube!

Screw the TV! Watch YouTube!

Luckily, I have been able to upload videos from some of the shows I’ve been too (I don’t always bring a camera, nor do the videos always turn out okay), and I’ve uploaded them to my YouTube page.

YouTube has reached over 100 million US viewers. Anyone can see, that’s a pretty powerful advertising tool. So how does one maximize it’s advertising potential? I actually found a website that explores that:

It’s called “YouTube Report 2009” and it dives into how you can get the most out of your YouTube videos (reach the most people, get the most hits, etc..).

Some of the tips they suggest are things like, all your videos having a similar theme. Most visitors will favorite or subscribe to a channel because they expect to be able to find certain videos there, or are interested in the video updates.

Also- be sure to update it regularly. No one ones to visit a page over and over and everything always be the same. Whether it’s uploading new videos, updating the “v-log” (a video blog), or even just changing the channel appearance (colors, video order, etc..).

Now when it comes to my personal channel, I am not overly concerned with getting a million hits. I pride my channel on being 100% original. Every one of my videos is one of a kind and not stolen from somewhere else. Many people may be touchy about their videos being posted somewhere else, but really, I would LIKE for people to re-post my videos! They will always link back to my page, which essentially is promoting my page and all the other videos on it.

YouTube, as many sites are doing now a days, has added the “Add This To” feature, where you can post videos and things on your Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Google and more. You simple click the icon and choose which site to add it to, and you can post the video or page on your profile, “share” it with friends and all that junk.
