2We Ride *album review*
We Ride
We Ride is a female fronted hardcore band from Vigo (Spain) that started out in 2009 and recently released their debut full length Directions. Within the first minute of hearing the first track with vocals, I was confused. This band has talent…. somewhere.  They fit in creative riffs with solid drum beats, and throw in some “breakdown-like-things†in a few songs.
From a lyrical stand point they did a swell job, they didn’t fall behind at all throughout this album, yet in my opinion…these vocals missed the trip to the studio. I’ve heard girl vocalist before and my feeling was that this was “hardcore†band, as they are listed. They made it sound like a Skacore band, if those exist? If the young lady works at making herself more of a screamer, instead of a yeller or chanter then they are looking at some sick progress.
With that being said, I could still find myself tappin’ my foot to the beat; I found it catchy despite the vocal sets. Specifically “My Life, My Dreams†and “Us Against The World.†Those tracks found the spot on my to listen list, so check those out before really judging the entire album. Twelve tracks may have been a tad daring, especially with a hip-hop song at the end of this album. No, she doesn’t rap… she’s still yelling, which is fine because the music itself makes for a great album, and some talented artistry.
Despite my skeptic point of view, I still feel it’s worth checking out, so help support a growing band and listen to them, buy their album, and give them your feedback!
Listeners of, All or nothing, and Comeback Kid, or any mathcore.
