0What is Band For A Cure?
A lot of people I know have heard of Band For a Cure, but are unsure of exactly its purpose. I wanted to write a little post to spread the word on exactly what this organization does. Originally launched in southern California, BFAC is meant to spread cancer awareness and raise funds to aid cancer research. Cristian Salas (pictured below) joined by Samuel Levine and Ryan Wade founded the organization a few years ago when Cristian was struck personally with a cousin diagnosed with Leukemia. He decided he wanted to get more involved in helping find a cure and figured using his connections in the music industry was the path to go.
You can follow the official BFAC website to keep up with events which usually include bands playing and people getting together to help this great cause. Proceeds from such events go toward cancer research and often times, raffles and prizes are given out to engage attendees along with live bands and support from names such as KROQ, FM949 San Diego, Miller High Life, Fearless Records, Death By Stereo, Atreyu, Emarosa, Hardline Ent, A Skylit Drive, Breathe Carolina, and much more.
After a highly successful first year in California, Band for a Cure is now launching in Las Vegas where Salas resides. The last event, a sold-out show at Loaded in Hollywood featuring Death By Stereo and Dan Jacobs (Atreyu) was a hit, and they won’t stop there. Stay tuned for more updates and events to come!
