0Vocalists That Are Doing It Right
I go to a lot of shows. I feel like sometimes I’m subjected to watching a band, sometimes I’m super into it and other times I’m neither here nor there. I feel like I have seen a lot of vocalists doing it right and some… not so much. Instead of calling out the shitty ones, I decided to talk about the ones that I think are doing the damn thing right! BEGIN!
Nick Woods – Direct Hit!
Jason Butler – letlive.
This one is pretty obvious. Ever since this band signed to Epitaph and started blowing up, Jason has been getting plenty of recognition as one of the most passionate people in the industry. This man is insane and will rip his shirt into pieces while he hangs from the rafters. It’s really something you should see for yourself!
Spike Slawson – Me First and the Gimme Gimmes
Who are we kidding? Spike is the frontman of all frontmans. Not only is he insanely talented, but he is a born entertainer. Many of Me First’s covers blow away the original, especially when you see it performed live because you can’t take your eyes off this man! Go, Spike, go!!!
Lou Koller – Sick of it All
Sick of it All has been playing shows longer than many of you reading this have probably been alive. Despite doing this for over 25 years, Lou still is energetic and truly seems genuine in his performance. This band has integrity and that’s something I respect and believe a lot of other bands are lacking.
Nuno Pereira – A Wilhelm Scream
I picked Nuno because this man looks so happy on stage. He is fun to watch because he truly looks like he is having fun. A Wilhelm Scream is one of my favorite bands to watch live and Nuno is a huge reason why. I just saw them the other day and I would see them again tomorrow if I could!
Dan Marsala – Story of the Year
Dan is the frontman for what I believe is one of the best live bands ever. SOTY is sort of a guilty pleasure of mine because I know they’re pretty “mainstream” and people poke fun at me for liking them sometimes, but there’s no denying this band’s talent. They have albums both good and bad, but no matter what, their live show is always on point. Dan is always smiling and running around and I feel like he sincerely connects with the audience.
I could probably list a few more but I want to keep the list small so it’s more meaningful. I’m sure a lot of you disagree or have other vocalists you think I should have listed. Tell me about it on Twitter or Facebook then!
